Florida, popularly known as the Sunshine State, is unique in its beauty. It gives something that very few other states do: gorgeous beaches, trails filled with Spanish moss, and beautiful lakes throughout! Taking a motorcycle ride through this state can allow you to unearth many of these hidden gems. To ensure you fully enjoy your motorcycle ride in Florida, we’ve included several routes along the great coastal roads to provide extensive ocean vistas.

We’ll begin by pointing out that motorcycling experience is mandatory if you plan to cruise the Sunshine State. And why is that? Florida isn’t the safest place for motorcycle riders. According to Brandon Jones, a Tampa area attorney, most motorcycle accident claims that come through his doors are preventable and due to factors out of the motorcyclist’s control. This isn’t meant to intimidate you, but riding skills are necessary to truly discover Florida from your motorcycle.

Lake Apopka Loop

Lake Apopka is located northwest of Orlando. As you ride through fields and pine trees, there’s enough beautiful scenery to take in, with plenty of exciting curves and elevation changes. Check out the adjacent Green Mountain observation platform, and take one of Florida’s great motorbike rides!

Green Swamp Loop

The Green Swamp Loop takes you on a beautiful tour of the Green Swamp Preserve (laced with marshes, low hills, and flatlands) and some enjoyable rustic roads. The route has several long stretches, especially on Highway 33, where you can speed up a little. Green Pond Road transforms into Rockridge Road, with entertaining twists and turns and beautiful views. Although the roads are in great condition, keep an eye on the occasional sandy patches.

Miami to Mile Zero

South Florida is well-known for its “unending parties.” However, the area boasts lovely weather and beaches, making for many great routes, including the Miami to Mile Zero route. This ride starts in Miami at Peterson’s Harley-Davidson and goes to Florida Keys’ southernmost point. There are 174 miles in all.

Ocala National Forest

Central Florida’s pine forest makes it a special area. Several of the routes make you feel like you are in a fairytale. And other trails, such as the Ocala National Forest, lead to rare fauna and beautiful springs.

There are good roads in Ocala National Forest, making it suitable for a motorbike ride. This 45-mile journey begins at Caravelle Ranch and concludes at the Pittman Visitors Center.

Ozello Trail

Short and sweet rides are sometimes the best. Despite being only ten miles long, the Ozello Trail (also known as State Route 494) is stunningly beautiful. This long, winding road in Crystal River is often called the most beautiful road in Florida.

The Florida Keys

There is no need to introduce the Florida Keys to motorcycle route enthusiasts. The United States 1 highway runs the length of the keys. You may stop practically anywhere along the trip to enjoy the Caribbean flavor of Florida’s southernmost regions. Don’t miss Mallory Square if you make it to Key West.

Sugarloaf Mountain

Although there are no proper mountains within the Sunshine State, Sugarloaf Mountain is the closest thing to one. This journey will take you to one of the highest points on the peninsula of Florida. Take in the scenery by stopping in several quaint towns and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Naples to Key West

This scenic motorbike route starts in Naples. If you want to escape Miami traffic totally, start at 41 or take 997 south. To get to Key West, use Route 1 south. It’s a warm road with beautiful scenery and plenty of animals. Look out for snakes, gators, and turtles as you speed around the Tamiami Trail’s twists. It’s basically a pleasant, private journey until you reach Key West, where it gets busy. The journey from Key Largo to Key West is worthwhile since you’ll be surrounded by water! Ensure you have enough gas before you start.

St Johns River to Sea Loop (SJR2C) Florida Motorcycle Route

There is a wide variation in the Loop’s character, from resort towns to small rural villages, coastal dunes to springs. It features a national coastline, several Florida State Parks, and flowing springs, among many more. It links St. Augustine’s medieval city to the Kennedy Space Center’s outskirts, DeLand’s college town, and New Smyrna Beach’s art districts.

Casey Key

The Casey Key route isn’t a long ride. Still, it does take you down the beach, where you’ll be treated to beautiful vistas of gorgeous residences and the stunning nature of Florida’s west coast.

Ormond Beach Loop

The Ormond Beach route is one of Northeast Florida’s most quaint attractions. The route passes through coverings of live oaks and hardwood forests, savannahs and saline water marshes, appealing beaches, and coastal dune ecosystems.

Ormond Beach florida

Starting at Tomoka State Park, North Beach Street leads north, Old Dixie Highway, Walter Boardman Lane, and Highbridge Road, heading south and east until you reach the Intracoastal Waterway.

Turn left after crossing High Bridge and follow John Anderson Drive south, then through Ormond Beach before swerving east to State Road A1A.

North Peninsula State Park encompasses the pristine dune environment of the North Peninsula and the gentle sea breezes of the north.

Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area

It is located 15 miles south of Crystal River on Florida’s Gulf Coast. It’s peaceful and distant, and there are no hunts. And that’s not all; you’ll be riding your motorcycle over limestone roads and logging tramways for miles. Hence, making it an unforgettable experience.

Final Thoughts

The Sunshine State has many amazing sceneries to bless the eyes of motorcycle riders. However, they should be focused on the road at all times. Shores, farmland, citrus orchards, golf courses, and even marshes tempt visitors. There’s a lot to do, and riding a motorcycle makes it even more exhilarating. Why not visit Disney World or go to Cape Canaveral to see someone go to the moon? The world is your oyster as you cruise around Florida.
